UPDATES FROM THE CEO

To Our Unitek Community:

We are an organization  that looks at the different creeds, colors and backgrounds of our student population as one of our greatest attributes. Our campuses and training centers, like our country, are multicultural. We are defined, as all medical professionals are, by the shared values of caring and support.

At Unitek, we celebrate our diversity and we strive every day to create a welcoming, safe and inclusive student culture. We know that a healthy environment promotes student engagement and supports academic achievement. But we recognize that no matter how much work we do to foster a comfortable atmosphere, our campus is but a part of the broader community it inhabits.

It is in that context that we stand in solidarity with those who are protesting systemic racism. The tragic killing of George Floyd was just the latest example of a bifurcated reality many Americans, and many in the Unitek community, wake up to every day. We applaud the courage of those who stand up to bigotry and injustice.

Our country is hurting, but we can each play a role in its healing. Together, we can deepen our understanding of how racism affects our society. We can also focus on our own thoughts and prejudices, our own interactions. I am confident we can come through this troubled period better than before because as medical-professionals-in-training, caring, empathy and service are in our DNA.

In closing, I promise to keep this dialogue going. An internal statement of support is nothing without further action, which is why my administration will continue to explore ways to better support you. If you have any questions in the interim, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
