EMT Refresher Course

EMT Refresher Course in Tempe, AZ

Upon completing your EMT training and working in the field, you will eventually need to fulfill your continuing education requirements to maintain your EMT license. Certification is essential, but so is EMT recertification.

Our comprehensive, 3-day continuing education Refresher Course will provide you with the required continuing education hours to recertify for both the state of Arizona and NREMT recertification. By combining traditional classroom instruction and changes to EMT protocol, our goal is to prepare you for success.

What You’ll Learn

Our intensive, 3-day course consists of the Traditional EMT Refresher and the NCCP National Registry 20-hour requirements. Altogether, this recertification class is presented in a 30-hour format.

Our EMT refresher training is approved by the Arizona Department of Health Services as well as the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), granting us the authority to award continuing education credits to EMT professionals.

In order to meet the requirements for NREMT recertification, our refresher course provides students with classroom lectures, student workbooks, and a practical-skills laboratory. We utilize both traditional and hands-on methods to accomplish the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective objectives of the program. To successfully complete this course, you must demonstrate mastery of both written and practical material.

Commonly Asked Questions

You should renew your certification before it expires. NREMTs can recertify by completing a set number of continuing education hours (no cognitive exam is required).

Note: The NREMT strongly suggests that you reference the specific license renewal requirements for every state in which you are licensed to practice.

Nationally Registered EMTs must renew their certification every two years.

The EMT National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) requires a total of 40 hours of continuing education to recertify. This model has three components: (1) a national component, (2) a local/state component, and (3) an individual component.

At Unitek EMT, we provide 30 hours of the required continuing education credits. It is your responsibility to complete the 10 additional hours as outlined by the NREMT.

The EMT Refresher Course spans three eight-hour days for a total of 30 hours. There are 24 classroom hours and 6 hours for student workbooks (quizzes only).

In total, our EMT Refresher Course costs $250. The registration fee is $50 and the training fee is $200.

It depends on how long your certification has lapsed. For instance, the requirements are different for a certification that has lapsed between 0-24 months versus two years or more. The NREMT delves into the varying requirements here.
