A variety of offerings to fit everyone’s schedule

Unitek EMT Program Overview

Emergency Medical Technicians perform life-saving work and fill a critical role in healthcare. Whether it’s a medical emergency or the scene of an accident, EMTs work tirelessly to provide immediate care for the public. At Unitek EMT, we prepare our students for a rewarding career in emergency medical services. EMS professionals expertly guide Unitek students through emergency simulations to emulate real-life challenges. Not only do they gain hands-on experience, but they utilize current technology and cutting-edge techniques.

Our students also embark on clinical externships in emergency-room settings or with local ambulance providers. The externships allow students to experience what it means to be an EMT before achieving certification. Additionally, Unitek instructors provide testing assistance for those who need some extra help.

The EMT program is offered in two different formats to accommodate our student’s schedules:

Enrollment Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or official transcript
  • Proof of the following immunizations:
    • Hepatitis B vaccination — at least first vaccine of 3 series
    • MMR vaccination (mumps, measles, and rubella)
    • TB test (tuberculosis) — within 6 months prior to starting clinical experience
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider Certification (AHA BLS CPR) — Available at Unitek or at an AHA CPR training center near you
  • Satisfactory completion of our Online Assessment

Join the 14-Day Boot Camp*

Taught by veteran EMS professionals, our workshop-style classes include real-world implementations, simulation training, and subject mastery. Unitek’s intensive, well-rounded curriculum will provide students with the psychomotor skills they’ll need to save lives. During the Boot Camp, all Unitek students will attend a clinical externship on an ambulance or in an emergency-room setting to further prepare them for success.

Online Component

Unitek’s unique approach to EMT training contains an online component, one that must be completed prior to graduation. This online portion includes approximately 50+ hours of didactic EMT coursework, with 24 of those hours being incident management related course material.

Key Advantages:

At the 14-Day Boot Camp, you will find the following key advantages for our students:

  • Utilize the latest technology
  • Learn from experts in the field
  • Receive 14 days of hands-on training
  • Experience a clinical ride-along and/or emergency room rotation
  • Get NREMT certified quickly
  • Join a program without hidden fees or service charges
  • Look into excellent financing options for those who qualify

Experience the Expanded Online Hybrid

If you prefer to learn at your own pace, Unitek offers another version of the EMT program: the Expanded Online Hybrid. With this economical alternative to classroom instruction, you attend lectures, receive hands-on skills instruction, and complete online coursework at the times that fit your schedule. Upon or prior to enrollment, students are strongly encouraged to schedule a meeting with the Program Director and discuss their goals.

All online coursework is based on the latest version of our textbook and consists of audio reviews, knowledge checks, homework, online discussion with fellow students, and self-paced presentations. Additionally, instructor support is available and encouraged to ensure students understand the material. On weekdays, our instructors can be reached by email or telephone. Toward the end of the program, students must report to Fremont, California for 4 days of intensive training. They will need to practice, demonstrate, and achieve proficiency in EMT skills. A 3-day clinical rotation will follow this period, and it will conclude with the Psychomotor Examination.

Developed and delivered by current EMT experts, the online hybrid provides students with the latest theory and technique for first-response treatment. Ultimately, Unitek EMT strives to prepare students for the National Registry exam (NREMT).

  • Learn at your own pace, on your own time
